State-Based Advocacy Networks
LSHA appoints Louisiana representatives to three ASHA state-based advocacy networks. These representatives partner with ASHA's national policy teams, advocate directly with lawmakers, agencies and payers, and serve as the information bridge between ASHA and Louisiana speech-language pathologists and audiologists to ensure that Louisiana voices shape the policies that affect their practice and patients.
SEAL
State Education Advocacy Leader
The SEAL representative advocates on issues affecting school-based practice including caseload and workload salary supplements, and the maintenance of personnel and qualification standards in Louisiana schools. SEALs provide leadership and guidance on the funding and delivery of services in educational settings and they carry school-based members' concerns to ASHA, the Department of Education and state decision makers.

State Advocate for Medicare Policy
The STAMP focuses on Medicare coverage, reimbursement and service delivery for speech-language pathology and audiology services. STAMPs work to influence administrative and policy decisions at the federal level that shape Medicare payments, build relationships with Medicare contractors, medical directors and key personnel, and serve as a resource for Louisiana members on Medicare policy and compliance questions.

State Advocates for Reimbursement
The STAR representative provides leadership guidance and support on coverage reimbursement and service delivery under Louisiana Medicaid and private health plans. STARs advocate with the Louisiana Department of Health, Medicaid managed care organizations, insurance regulators, legislators and employers for consistent coverage and equitable payment. They track member reported issues to identify statewide trends.
